Where the answers come from

ChatFlamingo’s bot reads your website through the sitemap, plus documents you upload. If it answers wrongly, you write a correction — and that beats any document from then on. This is where a website chat is decided: a bot that does not know your delivery times costs you enquiries instead of answering them. What tawk.to’s AI reads in, we did not find on their pages — so the table says “nothing found”, not “no”.

Where the provider sits

ChatFlamingo comes from CertoClav Sterilizer GmbH in Leonding, Austria. The DPA is published as text on this website and the databases sit in a data centre in the EU.⁶ tawk.to Inc. is in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a UK sister company; their Data Processing Addendum is part of the contract and does not have to be requested.⁵ tawk.to names no region for the data; what is stated is a certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.⁷

What the free plan holds

Both give the live chat away and both add 100 AI answers a month. The difference is next to it: at tawk.to the seats are unlimited and never cost anything¹ — at ChatFlamingo the free plan holds up to three. In return the “with ChatFlamingo” note is gone from the first AI plan at no extra cost; at tawk.to removing it costs $29 a month.⁴

Switching in three steps

Create the account. Enter your website address, the bot reads it. No credit card.
Swap the line. Take the old snippet out of your theme or header plugin and put ours in — or install the ChatFlamingo plugin in WordPress. Do remove the old snippet, or two chat windows end up on top of each other.
Add the knowledge. Upload the price list, the manual, the FAQ — everything the bot should know that is not on the website.

Old conversations cannot be carried over. If you need the history, export it at your old provider first.

Common questions

What people ask when switching

Can I run both at the same time?

Technically yes, sensibly no. Two chat windows on the same page confuse visitors, and both greet proactively. Better: test on one subpage, then switch.

Can I bring my old conversations?

No. There is no import. Export the history at your old provider if you want to keep it.

What happens when the 100 free answers run out?

The AI stops answering, the live chat keeps running. Nobody is moved into a plan automatically, and there is no back-billing.

Is tawk.to GDPR-compliant?

We do not judge that — everyone has to check it for their own use. tawk.to’s own statements are on their data protection page. What we found is in the table, with a source.

Do I need a developer to switch?

No. One line of HTML in the same place the old one sat. In WordPress the plugin does it.
