The three differences that matter
The human is not missing, they are included
Chatbase builds AI agents. A live chat where someone from your team takes over is not listed in the free plan; “Helpdesk” only appears in the “Standard” plan.1 At ChatFlamingo the live chat is the free part and the AI is the paid one. When a question comes in that the bot cannot handle, you press a button and write yourself — at no cost.
Back every month, or used up once a month
In the free plan Chatbase gives 50 message credits a month and deletes agents that have not been used for 14 days.1 At ChatFlamingo it is 100 answers a month, for good, and nothing is deleted because a week was quiet.
What we do not know about Chatbase
On company seat, data location, DPA and cookies we found nothing on the public pages that we could quote. So the table says “not found”, not “no”. If you need those, ask them directly — and ideally get an answer you can read back.
Switching in three steps
- Create the account. Enter your website address, the bot reads it. No credit card.
- Swap the line. Take the old snippet out of your theme or plugin and put ours in — or install the ChatFlamingo plugin in WordPress. Do remove the old snippet, or two chat windows end up on top of each other.
- Add the knowledge. Upload the price list, the manual, the FAQ — everything the bot should know that is not on the website.
Old conversations cannot be carried over. If you need the history, export it at your old provider first.

What people ask when switching
Is Chatbase a live chat?
According to their pricing page it is a builder for AI agents; a helpdesk is listed from the “Standard” plan.1 What exactly that covers is best described by the provider.
Can I run both at the same time?
Technically yes, sensibly no. Two chat windows on the same page confuse visitors, and both greet proactively. Better: test on one subpage, then switch.
Can I bring my old conversations?
No. There is no import. Export the history at your old provider if you want to keep it.
What happens when the 100 free answers run out?
The AI stops answering, the live chat keeps running. Nobody is moved into a plan automatically, and there is no back-billing. Next month the 100 are back.
Is Chatbase GDPR-compliant?
We do not judge that — everyone has to check it for their own use. Chatbase’s own statements are on their pages, linked below. What we found is in the table, with a source.
