Free live chat for WordPress with an AI chatbot that answers from your own website. 100 AI answers a month free, GDPR-minded.

== Description ==

ChatFlamingo puts a chat on your website. Visitors ask, you answer — from the dashboard in your browser or on your phone.

**The live chat is free.** Widget, live chat and dashboard cost nothing, with no time limit and no credit card.

**The AI is included.** The chatbot answers on its own, from your website and the documents you upload — 100 AI answers a month are free. Need more? Packages start at €22 a month for 1,000 AI answers, cancel any month. Answers from stronger AI models count as more than one.

= What you get =

* Live chat widget on every page, set up in a minute
* Optional AI chatbot that reads your website and answers in twelve languages
* Hand-over from bot to human at any time
* Order status and product cards for Gambio shops
* A separate database per customer, retention periods you set yourself
* Data processing agreement (DPA) included

= What this plugin does =

It adds one line to your pages — the ChatFlamingo embed code — and nothing else. Appearance, texts, opening hours and the bot are configured in your ChatFlamingo dashboard, not in WordPress. That keeps one place for every setting.

The script is loaded with `defer` in the footer, so it does not hold up your page.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate the plugin.
2. No account yet? [Sign up for free](https://chatflamingo.com/registrieren/?utm_source=wordpress&utm_medium=plugin&utm_campaign=readme) — enter your website address and the bot is ready.
3. Go to **Settings → ChatFlamingo** and paste your widget key. You can paste the whole embed line from the sign-up page or your welcome email; the key is picked out automatically.
4. Save. The chat now appears on your site.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is it really free? =

The widget, the live chat and the dashboard are free with no time limit, and every account includes 100 AI answers a month. Only more AI answers are paid, from €22 a month. If you stay within the free answers, you never pay.

= Where do I find my widget key? =

In the embed code you got after signing up — it is the part that starts with `wk_`. It is also in your welcome email. You can paste the whole line; the plugin extracts the key.

= Can I hide the chat on some pages? =

Yes, with a filter. For example, no chat on the WooCommerce checkout:

`add_filter( 'chatflamingo_show_widget', function ( $show ) {
    return function_exists( 'is_checkout' ) && is_checkout() ? false : $show;
} );`

= Does it work with my cookie / consent tool? =

The widget sets no cookies. It keeps a conversation ID in the browser's local storage (see "External services" below). If your consent tool blocks scripts by handle or URL, the script handle is `chatflamingo-widget` and the URL starts with `https://cdn.chatflamingo.com/w/`. Whether you need consent for the chat depends on your setup and jurisdiction; ChatFlamingo provides template texts for your privacy policy.

= Does it slow down my site? =

The script loads with `defer` in the footer and does not block rendering.

= Is it GDPR-compliant? =

ChatFlamingo is operated by CertoClav Sterilizer GmbH in Austria. Each customer gets a separate database, you set the retention periods, and a data processing agreement is part of the terms. The plugin also adds a suggested text to **Settings → Privacy** in WordPress.

== External services ==

This plugin connects your site to **ChatFlamingo**, a live chat and chatbot service operated by CertoClav Sterilizer GmbH, Peintner Straße 10, 4060 Leonding, Austria. Without this service the plugin does nothing.

**What is loaded and when:** Once you have entered a widget key, every public page of your site loads a script from `https://cdn.chatflamingo.com/w/<your-key>.js`. The script then loads the chat widget from your ChatFlamingo instance.

**What data is sent:** When the script loads, the visitor's browser sends its IP address, user agent and the page address to ChatFlamingo, as with any external resource. To show where a conversation started, the widget also sends the referring page and the first page visited. If the visitor writes in the chat, the messages and any details they enter (such as name or email address) are sent to ChatFlamingo to answer them; depending on your settings, an AI model processes them to generate an answer. The widget keeps a conversation ID — and the visitor's name and email, if entered — in the browser's local storage, and deletes these entries after seven days. It sets no cookies.

**Nothing is sent from the WordPress admin.** The plugin makes no requests of its own; it only outputs the script tag.
